The New Black Flag Lineup: A Bold New Era
In April 2025, Greg Ginn (now in his early 70s) unveiled a revitalized Black Flag featuring three musicians in their early 20s:
Greg Ginn – Guitar, founding member (1976–present)
Max Zanelly – Lead vocals (2025–present) – First woman to front Black Flag (and only the second woman in the band’s history after bassist Kira Roessler)
David Rodriguez – Bass (2025–present)
Bryce Weston – Drums (2025–present)
Ginn spotted Zanelly (a former waitress with no prior band experience) singing along passionately in the crowd at a previous show and invited her to join. The young rhythm section brings raw energy and chaos to the classic catalog while Ginn’s signature guitar remains the unrelenting force. Fans and critics have called it a living argument about punk legacy—messy, loud, imperfect, and pure Black Flag.
The band has already toured internationally with this lineup and is now bringing the full U.S. assault.
